Oral History: Class of 1969

The PMC Museum, in collaboration with the Wolfgram Memorial Library, welcomes all PMC reunion class members to take part in the oral history project. This year's oral history participants are the Class of 1969.

ROTC/PMC/Veterans BBQ & Military Skills Competition featuring the Class of 1969 Exhibit Preview and PMC Remembrance Garden Ribbon Cutting and Captain DiSerafino Plaque Dedication
11:45 am-2:00 pm, Memorial Field and PMC Remembrance Garden
All are welcome to join Widener’s ROTC and veteran students for a homecoming BBQ and military skills competition. The PMC Museum will be open during this time to show their new exhibits. At 11:45 am, the ribbon cutting on the PMC Remembrance Garden as well as a plaque dedication to Captain Giulio "Dee" DiSerafino will take place. The BBQ and military skills competition will begin directly following this ceremony. This event is family friendly and suitable for all ages!

Come out and join the African American Alumni Association for an old school game night at Uno Pizzeria & Grill on the Widener University campus. All Widener alumni are invited to start their homecoming Saturday by stopping by the information hub to pick up information about the weekend, campus maps, and other general information.

Institute for Occupational Therapy Education and the Chester Community Clinic Open House
8:30 am-10:00 am, Melrose Hall, 1720 Melrose Avenue, Chester, PA, 19013 (located between 17th and 18th streets)

Please join us to celebrate the opening of the Institute for Occupational Therapy Education, which is the new Doctor in Occupational Therapy Program at Widener University and the Chester Community Clinic (formerly the Chester PT Clinic) which is now an interprofessional clinic providing pro bono PT, OT, Social Work, and Clinical Psychology services. OT and PT students and faculty will be providing tours of the building and sharing our latest exciting updates.   We look forward to seeing alumni, parents, students, friends, community members, and faculty.

Healthy Homecoming: A Wellness Fair
10:00 am-11:00 am, Founders Hall Lobby
Come and join the faculty and students from the School of Nursing and the School of Human Service Professions for a family friendly health fair in Founders Hall. Health screenings and education will be accompanied by kid friendly activities like hand washing contests and healthy eating games. Attendees are also encouraged to visit the Fall into Fitness station and learn more about their muscles and joints with activities designed by physical therapy and occupational therapy students.

Let's Get Financially Fit: Money Management and Personal Finance for Teenagers
10:00 am-11:00 am, Quick Center, Room 203
This hour long interactive session is designed for middle and high school age students who want to learn more about good cash managment and financial planning. This workshop will be facilitated by Professor Joseph Hargadon, PhD, CPA, CMA, CGMA, 80’, 82’. Some of the topics for discussion include: Do you like to spend money?  Do you have a credit card or do you use your parent’s credit card?  Do you understand how finance (interest) charges are calculated?  Do you have a part-time job and pay taxes?  Do you know what a W-4 form is and how your employer uses it?  Do you know how a W-2 form is different from a W-4 form?  Do you understand the difference between saving and investing?  Have you heard of the rule of 72?

Retirement and Then What?

Have you considered what "retirement" means to you? Have you ever discussed it with your spouse or significant other? This no math (well, maybe just a little math!) workshop looks at the concept of retirement from stages-of-life perspective. We'll discuss the options, challenges, and opportunities facing each of us, based on our current life-stage, in order to achieve and maintain economic freedom. The discussion will also include interactive participation in activities derived from recent contributions in the nascent field of financial psychology.

Widener University Communications is proud to house our state-of-the-art video, audio, and graphic design production spaces. This Homecoming, we will honor our past COMS Commencement Award Winners and debut our newly updated space, including a dedication to those who have graduated with top distinction. This event is open to all alumni, current students, and family members. Light refreshments will be served.

Guided Tour of Taylor Arboretum
11:00 am-12:30 pm, Taylor Arboretum
Alumni, parents and families, current students and friends are all welcome to enjoy a one-hour tour of Widener University-owned Taylor Arboretum, a unique 30 acre wooded sanctuary just minutes from campus that contains an abundance of natural resources and a rich history. Your guides will be faculty members from Widener's Departments of Biology and Environmental Science & Sustainability.

All attendees for the guided tour should meet at 11:00 am in the Wolfgram Memorial Library Parking Lot, which is located next to Kirkbride Hall. Attendees will be shuttled over to the arboretum in a van at 11:00 a.m. and return to campus at 12:30 p.m. All attendees must take the van to and from the arboretum. This event also requires continuous walking, possibly for several miles.

Please note that in the case of inclement weather, the tour will be canceled. Please contact Dr. Loyd Bastin at lbastin@widener.edu with questions on the day of the event. We also ask that you register in advance as we do not accept walk ins on the day of the event.
